Art + Music

CERAMICS

Since 2023, I have been exploring how art practices function as modes of inquiry. Pour Into, a current project, applies feminist, decolonizing, and speculative thinking to examine the epistemic and material possibilities of the internet. Ceramic pouring vessels serve as thinking tools; imagined liquid represents myriad states of information, channeled, constrained, leaking, or redirected. This project challenges internet exceptionalism and reintegrates the network within a broader history of social and technical infrastructures.

MUSIC

I am an avid collector and curator of electronica. As a DJ playing under the name professor hex I bring together everything from UK rave, techno, breakbeats, jungle, ambient, and minimal drum and bass, all with a heavy dose of melodic vocals and worldly samples. I am particularly interested in how electronic music can serve as an entry point for understanding the ways in which urban communities conceptualize technological futures. Currently I am looking at Detroit techno and its relationship to Motor City’s rich longstanding adoption of DIY community networking.
